National Beef Cook-Off® Falling for Beef Retail Display Contest Official Entry Rules

Who Is Eligible

On behalf of the Beef Checkoff Program, and the American National CattleWomen, Inc. (ANCW) , a contractor to the Beef Checkoff Program (collectively, the Promotion Parties) present the National Beef Cook-Off ‘Falling for Beef” retail display contest. All retail grocery store managers, owners, operators, and employees can enter for their store (only stores within the Continental U.S. are eligible). NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

If you are an employee of any state or national beef or dairy industry organization, their agencies, program contractors, member of their immediate family (parent, children, siblings, spouse, regardless of where they live) or live in the same household of such employees you are not eligible to enter.

Display Contest Judging Criteria

One of the four ‘Falling for Beef” posters available on  website home page must be used in a store meat department display in the entrant’s store between Nov. 1, 2013 and Nov. 30, 2013. During this period, retail store must display the poster for a minimum of three 24-hour days. Displays will be judged base on: 25% prominence of the display in your meat department; 25% Overall impact of the display including use of the poster in the display; 25% Creativity; 25% Potential to increase sales of beef. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges from the beef industry. Judges’ decisions are final.

A limited number of posters (100) will be available for this contest and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. (Retailers also are welcome to print any of the poster image files themselves from the website images.)


Each entry must include the completed entry form provided on the website home page. Include:
• Meat Manager’s name
• Store name and number
• Store street address, city, state, and zip code
• Store area code and phone number
• Recipes featured on the poster as part of display
• Dates display will be posted
• List of other types of merchandising activities.

Submit with entry form at least one and not more than four color photograph(s) of your display. All entries must be emailed to and received no later than midnight CST on Nov. 30, 2013.

The National Beef Cook-Off Promotion Parties, their Sponsors and their agencies are not responsible for any changes or effects caused to the entrant’s computer system as a result of submitting email entries, or entries that can’t be processed due to network, electronic or computer hardware or software failure, or technical failures of any kind. Entrants warrant that they have received any required permission from their store for their participation in this contest.

Winners Notification

Three winners will be notified by the American National CattleWomen (ANCW), on or about December 16, 2013, and will be asked to sign an affidavit of eligibility and release within 10 days of notification. Noncompliance with this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner(s) by ANCW. Prizes will be awarded to the individual whose name appears on the entry form. In the event the store precludes an individual from receiving a prize, the prize will be awarded in the name of the store, and may be awarded according to store policy. Contest is void where prohibited by store regulations.

It is expressly understood that Promotion Parties, their Sponsors, and their agencies are under no obligation to the winners other than as expressly set forth in these Official Rules.  The winners are solely responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and fees associated with the receipt of any prize. 

Entrants agree that: (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall, if not resolved by agreement, be resolved individually, without resorting to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the State of Colorado, or the appropriate Colorado State Court located in Denver, Colorado; (ii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest but in no event attorneys’ fees, costs, punitive, incidental or consequential damages; and (iii) to the extent not prohibited by applicable law, entrants waive any right to a jury trial in any forum in respect to any issue, claim or cause of action arising out of or based on the subject matter hereof.  All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligation of the entrant and the Promotion Parties in connection with this Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Colorado without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Colorado or any other jurisdiction) which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Colorado.


Prizes will be paid by The Beef Checkoff and awarded by the ANCW. Prizes will be awarded from all entries received, as follows: one first-place $1,000 cash prize; one second-place $500 c ash prize; one third-place $150 cash prize. This contest may be discontinued at any time without notice to entrants in the event of Force Majeure.
